How To O.C.D. your life - The DeClutter in O.C.D.

Out with the old, in with the new. And then what? I always wished there was an instruction manual for this age old question? Who? What? Why? When? How? Well you add in luck. Let’s discuss the top five ways using the AJ DeClutter Me method to DeClutter your mind, body and home; then keep it going!

Who? You! Before we decide to DeClutter, we need to decide if we are going to go all in. Reading this article is a great first step!

What? Following the AJ DeClutter Me method we need to decide what we need to prioritize. Our mind, body, or home? They are all interconnected but we need a starting point. Do we need to DeClutter our schedule? Do we need to DeClutter our kitchen counter to promote productivity? Do we need to DeClutter our snack drawer?

Why? As we discussed before, all three of these are multifaceted. Learning to prioritize ourselves and self care requires introspection. Throughout my journey, I have learned that my physical health affects my mental health which affects the status of my home. In college it was clear when I felt like life was out of control. My dorm room was in disarray and I was eating more junk food plus my sleep schedule was out of wack. My mom would encourage me to decide if I wanted to life in chaos or find the source of the problem and take steps to fix it.

When? Right now! Everytime we say we are going to start next week, we never do. Start right now! There is no reason to put off tomorrow, what you can do today. Grab a piece of paper or open up a blank document on your phone and let’s get started.

How? Here are five questions quiz to get you started!

1 Which area should I start with mind, body or home?

2 What are the top three challenges you have for your category?

3 Who can I text right now to hold me accountable?

4 What are my S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Motivating, Achievable, Realistic, Timely) goals for the next week?

5 What are my S.M.A.R.T. goals for the next month?

Now that we have evaluated one of the three areas (mind, body, home) let’s keep it going! Next month do the same for another area of (mind, body, home) using the same questions above.
